World No Tobacco Day 2026 Awareness Program at Chandigarh, 04th June 2026
To commemorate World No Tobacco Day 2026, International College of Dentists, Section VI (India, Sri Lanka & Nepal) & Indian Dental Association, Chandigarh State Branch in association with the Department of Dentistry, Government Medical College & Hospital (GMCH), Sector 32, Chandigarh organized a public awareness program at GMCH, Chandigarh.
An informative talk on the ill effects of tobacco use was delivered by Dr. Abhinav Chopra.
Fellow Dr. Gurvanit Kaur Lehl, Head, Department of Dentistry, GMCH, Chandigarh educated the audience about various tobacco cessation measures and the importance of quitting tobacco for a healthier life.
Adding a personal perspective to the event, patients who had successfully overcome oral cancer shared their inspiring journeys of treatment, recovery and becoming cancer free. They used this experience to motivate others to quit tobacco products to prevent cancer.
A tooth brushing demonstration was also conducted to promote oral hygiene awareness among the attendees.
Fellow Dr. R P Gupta and Fellow Dr. Varun Bajaj were also present on the occasion and motivated the gathering to quit tobacco products.
