The Department of Dentistry Government Medical College and hospital sector 32 Chandigarh in collaboration with IDA Chandigarh state branch and ICD section VI observed the World No Tobacco Day (31stMay)on  30th May in the Department of Dentistry. The staff of hospital including safai karamcharis, attendants and patients visiting the hospital were made aware about the ill effects of Tobacco use. Awareness talk on harmful effects of Tobacco was given with powerpoint presentation. The talk started with emphasis on the Theme of this year “Protecting children from Tobacco industry interface”. They were educated about creating awareness of ill effects of Tobacco in their children and neighbourhood so that we can give rise to a healthy and Tobacco free society. Also effects of Tobacco on oral health and overall health were dwelt upon Different methods used for Tobacco cessation were also discussed. Some of the patients who had been smokers and had developed oral cancer and had been successfully treated at the hospital also motivated the participants to quit smoking so that they do not develop oral cancer and other complications of Tobacco use

Fellows Dr Gurvanit Kaur Lehl, Dr Manjit Talwar and Dr Sapna Singla from Department of Dentistry participated in the programme.

An oral cancer awareness besides many such camps, was held on 31st May 2024 in college for the patients in OPD. An awareness skit or nukkad natak , lecture, mass examination with spirometer, sensitizing patients about  ICD’s commitment towards early detection and diagnosis of oral cancer or any other oral lesions including dental caries, periodontal problems and  benefits of regular brushing with fluoridated tooth paste and mouth rinsing; taking care of dental trauma; tobacco cessation its merits and various methods of prevention. Stress too was given on frequent dental checkups at least 6 monthly which shall be done free of cost under the aegis of International College Of Dentists India, Nepal and Sri Lanka Section.. at DAV Centenary Dental College, Yamunanagar.

ICD Section VI Center Zone organized an Anti Tobacco Activities held at District Hospital Jabalpur on 31^st May 2024 along with IDA Jabalpur Branch, and Hitkarini Dental College

The program included Awareness rally, counselling of bystanders and a “nukaad natak” (skit) to make public aware of the ill effects of tobacco consumption.

ICD Section VI,  Eastern Zone  observed  “Worlds No Tobacco Day” on 31st May 2024 at Govt. Dental College Patna .

A Signature Campaign was organised in which all the faculty and ICD  fellows took the oath of Quitting Tobacco .

A competition was organised in which e- Poster and  reels were made by the students to spread the awareness of harmful effect of Tobacco .

It was attended by Fellow  Dr.Tanoj Kumar (Principal Dental College), Fellow Prof. Dr Anurag Rai, Fellow Dr Shubham Kumari ,Fellow Dr Amit Kumar and many other Dental Surgeons of Patna . Dr Amit Ram Zonal Regent took the initiative of organising this event .He also talked extensively about the functioning of ICD and the ill effects of the use of Tobacco.

ICD Section VI  with the collaboration of Post Graduate Institute of Dental Sciences organized a week long  program on “World No Tobacco Day” from 31 May 2024 to 08th June 2024 at Rohtak .  Lots of activities are taking place during this week , such as Poster Making Competition, Distribution of IEC Materials, Nukkad Natak and Oral cancer detection camp. ICD Section VI, West Zone with the collaboration of IDA Pune organized a CDE program on “Minor Oral Surgical Procedure” delivered by Dr. Vijay Kumar Girhe, MDS, (Oral Surgery) on 2^nd June 2024 at Pune. With over 60 attendees, there was a significant interest in this topic. Report by Dr. Anand Tripathi

ICD Section VI South Zone conducted rally and awareness program on NO TOBACCO DAY on 26^th May 2024 In rally, Participants had distributed pamphlets.   Joint Collector and SP had attended the rally program. 100 to 150 people participated in rally with IDA Nizamabad branch

The camp was conducted at Nasha Mukti Kendra, Udaipur on 3rd June 2024.

This camp was done by Dr. Misba Kadri under the guidance of Dr. Anmol Bagaria and Dr. Ashish Chandra Fellow of ICD Section Vl (Central Zone).

Tobacco Cessation Counselling Sessions was done during the camp. This counselling and awareness camp benefited around 55 males.
