WORLD ORAL HEALTH DAY 2025 CELEBRATIONS BY ICD SECTION VI & IDA CHANDIGARH STATE BRANCH on 20th March
To commemorate World Oral Health Day 2025, International College of Dentists, Section VI (India, Sri Lanka & Nepal) & IDA Chandigarh State Branch in collaboration with Health Department Haryana & OHSC, PGIMER, Chandigarh organized Oral Health Talk & Dental Check Up Camp at Government Model Sanskriti Primary School, Village Budhanpur, District Panchkula on 20th March, 2025.
The Team from Health Department Haryana was lead by Dr. Shivani Hooda, Deputy Civil Surgeon, District Panchkula (Haryana) & The Team from PGI was lead by Dr. Richa Shrivastava, Associate Professor, OHSC, PGIMER, Chandigarh.
Fellow Dr. R P Gupta interacted with the Students & informed them about the importance of Oral Health & how it is related to General Health. He also encouraged Children to maintain good Oral Hygiene by brushing teeth twice daily & preventing dental caries by limiting sugary, sticky food to not more than twice daily & by increasing the intake of fibrous food.
Around 400 Students were screened for dental problems & will further receive free treatment. Free Tooth brushes & Tooth Pastes were distributed to all the Students by Health Department, District Panchkula (Haryana).
Fellow Dr. Varun Bajaj also participated.





WORLD ORAL HEALTH DAY CELEBRATING ON 20TH MARCH AT LALITA DEVI INSTITUTE OF MANANGEMENT STUDIES
ICD Section IV (India, Nepal, SriLanka), organized an oral health and wellness awareness campaign at the Lalita Devi Institute of Management Studies for the staff of the college. An interactive oral health talk was conducted for 45 minutes, which was attended by over 50 staff members of the institute. A complete oral health checkup camp was conducted for the same, and sample distribution was done for the underprivileged staff members.
This Seminar was conducted by Dr. Neha Gupta, Fellow of ICD Section VI (North Zone) and the program was supported by the Director of the institute, Mr. Pranav Mishra.






Celebration World Down Syndrome Day and Oral Health Day on 21st March 2025 at GRID ,CHANDIGARH
Department of Dentistry and Psychiatry of the Government Medical College and Hospital Sector 32 Chandigarh in collaboration with Oral Health Sciences Centre, PGIMER Chandigarh, International College of Dentists Section VI ( India, Sri Lanka and Nepal) and IDA Chandigarh State Branch celebrated the World Oral Health Day and World Down Syndrome Day on 21st March 2025 at the Government Rehabilitation Institute for Intellectual Disabilities (GRIID) Sector 31,Chandigarh.
A Dental check up camp was held for the children with Down Syndrome where they were examined and treatment was advised to them. The parents and teachers were also educated about specific aspects of preventive oral health care for these children.
Prof SP Singh Head, OHSC PGIMER Chandigarh and President IDA Chandigarh State Branch interacted with the children and gave them preventive advise.Dr RP Gupta also graced the occasion and interacted with children.The team led by Dr Gurvanit Kaur Lehl from GMCH and Dr Richa Shrivastava from OHSC PGIMER Chandigarh examined the children and gave them preventive advise on brushing and dietary restriction of sugars so that overall good oral health can be maintained. Free toothpastes and toothbrushes were distributed among the children.
An enthusiastic dance performance was also given by the children. In all it was a very fruitful programme enjoyed by the children, the parents, teaching staff of the institute as well as the team of doctors.






Workshop on “Saving the natural tooth – Role of Conservative and Endodontics”, 5th March 2025
The department of Conservative and Endodontics of K.D Dental College & Hospital under the banner of ICD, India- Srilanka-Nepal-Section VI Mathura organised two day event to celebrate Cons & Endo day on 5th March 2025 with the theme “SAVING THE NATURAL TOOTH- ROLE OF CONS & ENDO” with the motive of creating an awareness about the specialty to the patient and the dental community.
To mark the occasion, the department organised various competitions on 4 march between the students like Graffiti and Poster making. On 5 march Rangoli, Reel making, face painting competitions were organised. Students participated with great enthusiasm and zeal. Around 120 students took part in various activities. The celebration was a huge success with an overwhelming response from the students and faculty members from various departments.
Principal and HOD of Department of Prosthodontic Dr.Manesh Lahori appreciated the program which was led by Dr Ajay Kumar Nagpal (HOD of Conservative and Endodontics) with other staff members Dr.Sunil Kumar, Dr Abhishek Sharma, Dr Mutiur Rehman and Dr Juhi Dubey. Postgraduates of the department marked there wonderful efforts to make this occasion a memorable one.
Few activities were also organised for staff members on 5 march after the cake cutting ceremony like quiz & dumb charades. Around 40 faculty took part in these competitions.

Workshop on “Hard and Soft Tissue Grafting and Suturing Techniques”, New Delhi, 15th Dec 2024
ICD, Section VI, North Zone organized a workshop on “Hard and Soft Tissue Grafting and Suturing Techniques” on 15th December 2024 in India Habitat Centre. Dr Sandeep Singh was the speaker.
The lecture was attended by approximately 30 dental professionals, including practitioners, specialists, and academicians. The attendees engaged actively throughout the session. Key points are:
- Inadequate Alveolar-ridge width and height.
- Poor Soft tissue aesthetics
- Wound gaping after Augmentation

Lecture on “Preventing Musculoskeletal Disorders”
An evening lecture on “Preventing Musculoskeletal Disorders among Dentists” was held on October 7th at 7:00 pm at The LaLiT, located at Rajiv Gandhi IT Park, Chandigarh, in collaboration with IDA Chandigarh State Branch, ICD North Zone Section VI, and Sensodyne . The event was delivered by Prof. Mandeep Dhillon (Ex HOD Orthopeadics PGIMER CHANDIGARH) from Fortis Mohali, a renowned expert in orthopedics, musculoskeletal health.and sports medicine .
The lecture was attended by approximately 60 dental professionals, including practitioners, specialists, and academicians. The attendees engaged actively throughout the session, highlighting the importance of musculoskeletal health in dentistry, where long hours and improper posture can often lead to chronic issues.ICD fellows Dr. R.P Gupta,Dr. Ashish Gupta ,Dr. Arpit Gupta ,Dr .Gurvanit Lehl, Dr. Gurvinder S Dhamija,Dr. Mukesh Dhameja, Dr. Varun Bajaj, Dr. Gunjan Pruthi were present.
Key Highlights: Prof. Dhillon began the lecture by discussing the prevalence of musculoskeletal disorders (MSDs) among dentists, which are often caused by repetitive motions, poor ergonomic setups, and prolonged periods in static positions. He emphasized the need for awareness and early intervention to prevent the onset of these conditions.
Key preventive strategies shared during the session included:
* Proper ergonomic practices in the dental clinic setup.
* Importance of regular physical exercises and stretches targeted at strengthening muscles and improving flexibility.
* Techniques to ensure proper posture during patient treatments.
Conclusion: The lecture was highly appreciated by the attendees for its practical relevance and Prof. Dhillon’s expertise in the field. The session successfully raised awareness about the impact of musculoskeletal disorders on dentists and provided actionable strategies for their prevention. The event was a successful collaboration between dental professionals and organizations focused on improving the well-being of the dental community. Prof Ashima Goel was awarded with lifetime achievement award presented to her by Dr. R.P GUPTA ( Past president IDA CHANDIGARH) and Dr.Gurvanit Lehl (Past president IDA Chandigarh).
Dr Guatam Munjal and Dr. Avninder Kaur were also awarded. The event concluded with vote of thanks.


Dental Camp at Star Public Smart School, Kajheri, Chandigarh
In collaboration with ICD North Zone Section VI, IDA Chandigarh State Branch, and Rotary Club Chandigarh Uptown, a successful dental camp was organized on 1st October 2024 at Star Public Smart School, Kajheri, Chandigarh, a school located in a rural area. The camp aimed to promote oral health awareness and provide dental check-ups for the students. A total of 263 students were screened during the camp.

The camp was supported by key organizations, including ICD North Zone Section VI, IDA Chandigarh State Branch, and Rotary Club Chandigarh Uptown.
The dental check-ups were conducted by a dedicated team from the Oral Health Sciences Centre (OHSC), PGIMER Chandigarh. The team headed by Dr. Richa Srivastava (Assistant Professor).Dr. Manikesh (Senior Resident), Dr. Komal Kaur (Research Officer), Sanjeev Kumar, and Suraj Kumar were part of the team.
ICD Fellows Dr. R.P. Gupta, Dr. Arpit Gupta, and Dr. Varun Bajaj were also present at the camp. Furthermore, Dr. Jaspreet Sandhu, a member of the IDA Chandigarh State Branch, contributed to the success of the camp through their active involvement.
Activities and Impact
The camp primarily focused on educating students about oral hygiene and assessing their dental health. Each student underwent a thorough oral examination, and the findings were documented to provide feedback and recommendations for further care if needed. Furthermore silver Diamine application was done in student suffering from Early Childhood Caries.
Apart from the clinical check-ups, the students were provided with oral health education sessions that emphasized proper brushing techniques, the role of diet in dental health, and preventive measures for common dental issues like cavities and gum diseases.

The rural setting of the school highlighted the need for such initiatives to reach underserved communities. The camp was well-received by both students and school authorities, as it not only helped in the early detection of dental issues but also raised awareness of preventive oral health measures among the young population.
Conclusion
This dental camp was a significant step toward promoting oral health in a rural school. The distribution of toothpaste reinforced the camp’s message about maintaining oral hygiene. It also highlighted the importance of community collaboration in improving public health. Continued efforts and follow-up initiatives are essential to ensure the long-term impact of such programs.


Vaccination Program on 11th October 2024 for tribal girls
We are thrilled to announce the successful vaccination program for 98 tribal girls, sponsored by Mankind Pharma, through the herculean efforts of Dr. Anil Kohli. (ICD – Section VI, North Zone) This initiative represents a significant step toward ensuring the health and well-being of these young girls, providing them with essential vaccines for a healthier future. Dr. Kohli’s dedication and Mankind Pharma’s generous support have made this program a reality, fostering hope and safeguarding the lives of these underserved communities. Together, we are empowering the next generation by prioritizing their health and future.


Dental Camp on 02nd August 2024
ICD Section VI, North zone organized a dental camp and free blood test by Agilus diagnostics for Members, staff & Caddies of Rambagh Golf Club Jaipur on 2nd Aug 2024 at Rambagh Golf Club. Over 100 staff Members & Caddies participated. The camp was led by ICD Fellow Dr. Anjali Dave Tiwari. Dr. Archit, Dr. Alankrita, Dr. Mansi, Dr. Divyam accompanied.
